AGREEMENT

These terms govern your use of localsolarsystem.org and your purchase of Local Solar System products. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to them.

THE PRODUCT

Local Solar System sells sets of nine custom-made plaques, Sun through Neptune, 6 by 4 inches each, in cast bronze, engraved brass, or reverse-engraved acrylic. Each set is a physical object made to your order: the figures on your plaques are computed from the site measurement and units you provide, using the method described on the order page, and every plaque carries the installation location you enter.

ORDERS

PRICE AND PAYMENT

Prices are shown in US dollars on the order page and charged at checkout. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; we never see or store card details. Applicable taxes and shipping are shown at checkout before you pay.

TURNAROUND AND DELIVERY

Every set is made to order by our casting and engraving vendor after payment, and we do not promise a delivery date. We will tell you when your order is released to production and when it ships, and we will write to you if production runs long. We ship to addresses in the United States. Risk of loss passes to you on delivery.

CANCELLATION

You may cancel for a full refund at any time before your order is released to production. Release can happen within hours of payment, so write to [email protected] as soon as you can; we confirm every cancellation by email. Once production has begun, an order cannot be cancelled, returned, or exchanged, because each set is engraved with your figures and your place name and is of no use to anyone else.

DEFECTS

If your set arrives damaged, defective, or engraved differently from what you entered, write to [email protected] within 14 days of delivery with a photograph of the problem. We will repair, replace, or refund the affected plaques, at our choice, and we cover the return shipping. Differences that come from the measurement or text you entered are not defects (see Your measurements). Natural variation in cast metal, such as surface texture, patina, and small casting marks, is part of the product, not a defect.

YOUR MEASUREMENTS

The engraving figures are computed from the site measurement you provide. Please measure carefully: we engrave exactly what you enter, and we are not responsible for errors in the measurements or text you supply. Sets can be installed to scale or hung together as a set; the order page shows the smallest measurement at which neighbouring plaques still fit side by side. Installation of the plaques, including site permissions and safe mounting, is your responsibility.

ACCURACY OF THE SCIENCE

Planetary distances and diameters used by the calculator come from the NASA Planetary Fact Sheets, and light times are computed from the defined speed of light. The figures are provided in good faith for artistic and educational purposes.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The Local Solar System name, sun mark, plaque designs, and the contents of this site belong to Local Solar System. Please do not copy or reproduce them without permission. The plaques you purchase are yours; the underlying designs remain ours.

ACCEPTABLE USE

Do not misuse the site, interfere with its operation, or attempt to access systems or data that are not yours.

DISCLAIMER AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The site is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Local Solar System disclaims implied warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.

GOVERNING LAW

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules.

CHANGES

If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Orders are governed by the terms in effect when the order is placed.
